“What continues to stand out about Bika is her genuine and ongoing involvement in the schools and communities that help shape and enrich the lives of the next generation. She brings heart, care, and a strong connection to the community into everything she does. It was wonderful spending time together talking about Burlington, our schools, and the future of our neighbourhoods.”
— Olivia Duke, Ward 4 Councillor CandidateThe perfect combo of empathy and objectivity when it matters most. You lead with integrity and always work to advocate for what's right regardless of what might serve you personally. I've watched this over the many years on council with you. I look forward to others having the same opportunity and think we'd all be fortunate to have you in this role.”
— Jen Ross, Collective Photo Co.“Following along and watching you conquer will be something special — not just because of the successes, but because of the heart behind it. You show up for your school, your community, and for something bigger than yourself, and it doesn't go unnoticed. It's inspiring to see what passion and purpose can really do. Keep going because we're all watching, and we're all cheering you on.”

Why are you running for HDSB Trustee, Wards 1 & 2?
I’m running because I care deeply about our schools and our community. I live here in Ward 2, and my child attends a local public school, so I understand firsthand how important it is for families to feel informed, supported, and connected. I believe strong schools are built through collaboration, open communication, and community voice.
What experience do you bring to this role?
Over the past four years, I’ve served as Co-Chair of Central Public School Council, where I worked closely with families and school leadership to strengthen communication and encourage meaningful family engagement. I also served on the Southwest Burlington Elementary Boundary Review Committee where I advocated for families and brought forward community perspectives during an important and complex process, helping ensure families felt heard, supported, and represented throughout.
What are your priorities as a Trustee?
My priorities are supporting strong communication between schools and families, ensuring community voices are heard, and helping create welcoming, connected school communities where students can thrive. I believe thoughtful decision-making and collaboration are key to building on the strong foundation already in place in our schools.
Why is community engagement important to you?
I’ve seen how much stronger outcomes can be when families feel welcomed into the conversation. Community engagement builds trust, strengthens relationships, and helps ensure decisions reflect the needs of students and families.
What makes you connected to Wards 1 & 2?
This is home for my family. I’m invested not only as a community member, but as a parent raising a child in our local public school system. The schools, neighbourhoods, and families here matter deeply to me, and I’m committed to staying engaged and accessible.
What kind of Trustee would you be?
I would be a Trustee who listens, communicates openly, and stays present in the community. For me, this work is about showing up, building relationships, and making sure families feel heard and informed along the way.
“I live here. My child learns here. This matters to me.”
